Jessica Hendry Nelson, Managing Editor

We are proud to welcome onboard GMR’s new Managing Editor, Jessica Hendry Nelson. Jessica has already, in her first few weeks on the job, whipped our operations into shape and streamlined and organized us into lethal efficiency. We are so grateful to have her.

More exciting still, Jessica will also serve as our new Nonfiction Editor. She is the author of the forthcoming memoir in essays, If Only You People Could Follow Directions (Counterpoint Press, January 2014), which was recently honored by the American Booksellers’ Association as an Indies Introduce Debut Author selection. Her work has been published in numerous journals and magazines including The Threepenny Review, PANK, Drunken Boat, Crab Orchard Review, Alligator Juniper, and Carolina Quarterly, featured as Notable essay in Best American Essays 2012, and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She lives in Colchester, Vermont.

We are also proud to welcome our new team of editorial assistants: Andrew Gardiner, Ashley Clinger, Samantha Fox, Ashely Josselyn, and Derrick Spaulding. These interns have given over their lives for a whole semester to basically live in the GMR office and tunnel through its warren of paper or digital manuscripts. We are amazed by how often the careful reading, common sense, and fresh sensibilities of these interns direct us toward exciting new editorial discoveries.
